Daniel Segura was born on July 21, 1950, in Flatonia, Texas. He was the second son of Faustino and Margaret Segura....

Daniel's heart and soul were always bigger than life.....

As a child he was the designated care giver for his younger siblings...(which eventually totaled 8)..while mom and dad worked the fields as migrants laborers.

The family settled in Orchard Texas, in the early sixties and Daniel attended Orchard Elementary and Junior High...and when the family moved to Rosenberg, Daniel Graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School.

By this time Daniel was a musician in the family's Tejano Band Gary and the Epics
Daniel married Lydia Cruz in November of 1968,  and continued playing in the band
Daniel and Lydia had twin boys....Danny and Darryl, born in February 8 of 1971, and subsequently a third son Louis Abraham born sept 27, 1984.

In 1979....Dan joined Los Kasinos....(by this time Gary and the Epics had disbanded)
Dan started with KFRD 980 in 1983 on weekends....and in 1984 became a full time employee--Dan was also  part of the Spanish language broadcast team for the Houston Oilers in 1989 and 90,

In 1992, Dan "the Man" Segura became the morning show dj with KQQK fm in Houston.
When KQQK was acquired by new owners,  Dan remained with the station and when the parent corporation acquired the 980 AM frequency, Dan the Man Segura returned to the AM airwaves ...now KRTX puro Tejano 980--and he became a legend.

July 21, 2008
Dan went to be with the Lord

Dan lived by one standard:  The more you do for others, the more others will do for you.
The outpouring of sympathy and grief upon his passing are testament to his days with us.

Dan was my brother
I shall miss him dearly.
