Ruben Ramos, TexManiacs and MC Overlord are among the artists showcased in the upcoming "United Sounds of Austin: Las Nubes of Hope, Harmony and Peace" concert.

The event was being billed as a multicultural charity concert taking place on Oct. 17 at the Austin Music Hall.  The event will celebrate Austin's common cultural and music heritage and will feature a tribute to Little Joe Hernandez, a pioneer of Tejano music and noted social advocate.
 

Also performing: Bus Stop Stallions, Gabe Nieto and the Jalapeno Express, Frank Gomez, the 80H Project, and others.


A variety of artists was selected to bring awareness of Austin's diversity. IN a statement by the concert organizers: "Austin is undergoing social changes as ethnic boundaries are being redefined across the city.  To raise awareness of cultural issues in the community, noted public figures will join artists from various musical genres including hip hop, rock, Tejano and country including, Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution, MC Overlord, Bus Stop Stallions, Gabe Nieto and the Jalapeno Express, Frank Gomez, The 80H Project, Los TexManiacs and others."

The event is being sponsored by Humanitarians Engaged in the Arts for Respectful Dialogue (HEARD), the Austin Tejano Music Coalition (ATMC), the Student Peace Alliance, and the City of Austin.

Little Joe Hernandez was to receive the UT Project on Conflict Resolution "Bridging Divides" Award at the event.
