One of the reliable good things about the annual TMA Fanfair, is the number of solid showcases around town. Seems record labels and small indies get the idea to showcase their groups while a lot of folks are in town.
This year, one of the most promising is the Tex-Mex Records Showcase on Thursday March 17 featuring Xelencia, Retono, Dezeo Tex-Mex Kadillaks and Ricky Guzman III & the
AllStars.
The showcase is scheduled at the Cadillac Bar, 212
Bombasta and Salsa del Rio are among the top headliners scheduled to perform at the Fats Tuesday International Fest.
Arcade Fire and Lady Antebellum were among the big winners at the 2011 Grammy Awards. Additional winners include jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding who took best new artist honors.
The immigration issues remain front and center in key communities while the message is subtly highlighted in upcoming concerts by Los Tigres, Los Lobos and Intocable.
