Max Baca & Tex-Maniacs: 2010 Grammy winner for best Tejano CD 
The TexManiacs won the best Tejano CD of the year honors at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards held Sunday night in Los Angeles.
Presented by the The Recording Academy the Grammy
Awards honors the best performers as determined by a vote of their recording peers.
“Oh my god, is was awesome,
a dream come true,:” said Max Baca moments after receiving the awards. “It’s a great feeling."
Anticipation was high said Baca: “All week I had worms in my stomach, even my blood pressure went up.”
The TexManiacs won for their CD “Borders Y Bailes,” released by the Smithsonian Folkways.
Also in the running were: Stefani “Divina”; Jay Perez, “All The Way Live"; Joe Posada, “Point Of View”; Sunny Sauceda, “Radiación Musical.”
TexManiacs singer David Farias was also caught off guard.
“It was a big surprise. And a big feeling,” he said. “It was an honor to be nominated but to win. That’s great.”
The 52nd Annual Grammy awards continue tonight at the Los Angeles’ Staples Center with many national stars presenting and performing.
Nominees include Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Beyonce Knowles.
The album of the year nominees include Beyonce ("I Am . . . Sasha Fierce"); Dave Matthews Band ("Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King"); Taylor Swift ("Fearless"); Black Eyed Peas (for "The E.N.D."), and Lady Gaga ("The Fame Monster").
