Old-school Tejano, music awards and more church fests take the spotlight for the weekend and beyond.

First up, there's the October Fest Dance with Bobby Esquivel & Liberty Band at the Fountain Bleu ballroom on Culebra. Tix are $8-$10 for the show scheduled Saturday, Oct. 18. INfo:(210) 789-2484. Also Janie's Record Shop (210) 735-207 0.

Another huge family fest is on deck with the Holy Moly Festival showcasing  Mental Breakdown, Patsy Torres, Valero Band, Leslie Lugo, Sound Rave, Anthony Hernandez, David Marez, Jimmy Edward. The fest is set Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Oblate Grotto. Info:210-778-1444 or 210-999-1125

More old-school Tejano fun on Friday, 10/17 La Fiebre hosts their reunion CD party at Graham Central Station, Fredericksberg at Loop 410.

FiebreLa 8 x 10 (Reunidos).jpg Another Tejano awards show unfolds Thursday Oct. 23 when the Tejano Academy Music Awards unfold at  Villita Assembly Hall. Los Desperadoz will be the aweards MCs.

Elsewhere, Soulstruck, a diverse group that plays a wild mix, takes the stage tonight, Friday at the Cadillac Bar, 212 S. Flores. Groups here tend to play a little on the uncomfortable, high end of the volume scale. The Caddy also has a big Halloween party with costume contests coming up Oct. 31. In between live set DJs Saint and Hobby keep it hot.
 
More international music mix uncorks when Oscar Cruz y Escape, a solid crew unloads Saturday at Panchitos at the Quarry (281). Led by singer/keyboardist Oscar Cruz, the talent includes Alvaro Mendoza, Miroslava, vocals/ percussion; Bert Ybarra, guitars; Abraham Humpries, bass; and Andy Bernal drums.
